Product Introduction
The Problem with Standard Heaters at High Elevation
Here's something that surprises a lot of people: water heaters behave differently at high altitude. The lower air pressure affects how thermostats operate. The thinner air means less cooling for electrical components. And the colder incoming water (common in mountains) puts more demand on the heating element.
Standard mini tanks, designed at sea level, often struggle when installed at 5,000 feet or higher. Thermostats drift. Elements cycle too often. Some units simply fail prematurely.
We started getting calls about this from customers in Colorado, the Swiss Alps, and the Andes. So we went back to the lab and engineered a solution.
Our High-Altitude Series Small Hot Water Heater For Camper is specifically calibrated for installations above 3,000 feet. Same footprint, same connections, but with components selected and tested for thin-air performance.

Product Advantages and Applications
What Changes at High Altitude?
Thermostat Calibration
Standard mechanical thermostats rely on gas-filled bulbs that expand and contract with temperature. At high altitude, the lower air pressure affects how these bulbs behave. They can read 5-10°F off, causing the heater to run too hot or too cold.
Our High-Altitude Series Small Hot Water Heater for Camper uses electronically calibrated thermostats with pressure compensation. They maintain accuracy within ±2°F regardless of altitude.
Element Cycling
Thinner air provides less cooling for electrical connections. Standard elements can overheat at their termination points. We use heavy-duty terminals and higher-temperature insulation on all internal wiring.
Incoming Water Temperature
Mountain water is cold. Like, really cold. At 7,000 feet, incoming water can be 40°F or lower. Standard recovery calculations assume 50-60°F. We oversize the elements (3kW instead of 1.5kW) to handle the extra temperature rise.
Pressure Considerations
Water boils at lower temperatures at high altitudes. At 10,000 feet, water boils at 194°F instead of 212°F. Our temperature limiters are calibrated to prevent boiling at your specific altitude.

Where the High-Altitude Series Belongs
| Application | Elevation | Why HA Series |
|---|---|---|
| Mountain Cabins | 4,000-8,000 ft | Standard units fail, ours don't |
| Ski Lodges | 5,000-9,000 ft | Cold incoming water needs extra power |
| Mining Camps | 6,000-10,000 ft | Remote locations demand reliability |
| Observatories | 7,000-14,000 ft | Precision equipment needs precision water heating |
| Highway Rest Stops | 3,000-6,000 ft | Public facilities need consistent performance |
| Mountain Restaurants | 5,000-8,000 ft | Kitchen hot water is critical for operations |
What a Contractor in Colorado Told Us
*"I build cabins in the Rockies. Standard water heaters were my biggest headache. They'd fail in 18 months, and I'd have to drive three hours to replace them. Your High-Altitude Series changed that. I've got units at 9,000 feet running for five years now. Worth every penny."*

Our Factory
Built for Everywhere Else Too
Even if your customer isn't at high altitude, the HA Series is built to the same standards:
Glass-lined steel tank (5-year warranty)
Oversized magnesium anode (replaceable)
Incoloy 825 heating element
35mm PU foam insulation
T&P relief valve included
Our Factory: Altitude Chamber Testing
We don't guess about high-altitude performance. We test for it.
Our lab includes an altitude chamber that can simulate conditions up to 15,000 feet. We run full performance tests at various elevations, measuring recovery time, thermostat accuracy, and electrical stress.
We have data. We'll share it.
