Electric Water Heater RFQ Checklist for Brand and Wholesale Buyers
A quotation is only as useful as the specification behind it. If two suppliers quote different configurations, the lower unit price may not represent the better offer. A short, structured request for quotation helps brand and wholesale buyers identify those differences before placing an order.
Separate fixed requirements from open choices
Start with the destination, intended application and product type. State which requirements are already decided and which you want the supplier to propose. For example, a distributor may have a fixed installation envelope but still be comparing product capacities. Marking this distinction prevents an early suggestion from being treated as an approved specification.
Use one requirement sheet for every quotation
Record the preferred model or reference, quantity by model, electrical configuration to be confirmed, installation orientation, dimensions and packaging needs. Add the documents you need to review and the delivery location. Where a value is unknown, write "to be confirmed" instead of leaving an ambiguous blank. This is a procurement brief, not an installation design.
Compare the scope as well as the price
Ask each supplier to identify what is included and excluded: branding, artwork, samples, testing, packing, transport and any development work. Keep payment terms and delivery assumptions alongside the price. Do not compare a quotation for a standard configuration with a developed private-label version as if the two were identical.
Close the open questions before ordering
Create an open-item list with an owner and the required reply for each point. Ask for a revised quotation after material requirements change. Retain the revision used for approval so the purchase order can refer to the same configuration. A clear brief also makes it easier to spot assumptions that need technical review.
